    FAQ

    Brother Recycling FAQs

How many used toner cartridges can I send back at once?

The more toners that you can send back to us, the better it is for the environment as transport emissions are reduced. Brother has a bulk collection scheme where you can send back 4 or 12 toner cartridges at once depending on the box you select. If you wish to return a single cartridge please follow these instructions. Simply package your used cartridge in the same packaging that your new Brother cartridge came in. The box contains a pre-paid postal label. Simply seal the box and stick the label to it. Take the sealed box to your local post office where they will send it on to us free of charge.

How should I pack the used toner cartridges to send them to you?

    1. Please refit the yellow or orange cover from the new cartridge to the used cartridge to protect the roller.
    2. Then place your used toner cartridge into the foil bag from the new cartridge and place into the dividers within the box.
    3. Only place one cartridge into each divider to avoid damage to the cartridge.
    4. Seal the box and take to your local post office / mailroom at work.

Is the postage pre-paid or does postage have to be paid?

Postage is paid for the recommended number of cartridges per box, i.e. 4 or 12. If the box contains more than the recommended number of cartridges a charge might be incurred by the customer. Please note that your local Post Office is the official carrier for all Brother returned cartridges.

Do you accept used toner cartridges from other companies?

Unfortunately we do not accept used toner cartridges from other companies; please return them to the original manufacturer.

What happens to the used toner cartridges when I return them?

All Brother used toner cartridges returned from Europe are recycled at our facilities in the U.K. or Slovakia. Durable components from your returned toner cartridge are recovered and utilized within a new cartridge to conserve resources and reduce the environmental impact of producing new toner cartridges. Components that are not re-usable are recycled responsibly at our facilities.

How do I benefit the environment by sending used toners back?

Brother has a zero waste to landfill policy and we are committed to recycling all components of Brother used toner cartridges that are returned to us. Storing your used cartridges and sending them back through our bulk collection scheme helps to reduce transport emissions. When you send back 4 or more cartridges Brother will make a donation to protect part of the Peruvian rainforest in cooperation with the charity Cool Earth.
